Camel Safaris

One of the unique things in this beautiful part of the world is the Dive/Camel Safaris, where the Camel takes your dive gear and you head up the coast to the more remote sites Dahab has to offer.

If you are doing a day trip, the day starts at around sunrise, and after a short journey by Jeep to the Blue Hole (as far as the road goes) you then jump onto your Camel. He or she will take you the hour and half journey along the coast road, up to Ras Abu Galum National Park. Riding along this amazing coastal path gives you a breathtaking view of the scenery while your sturdy Camel gets you there safely.

After some traditional Bedouin Tea we start with the first dive. As this area is harder to get to, the coral reef is in pristine condition, and thus is very rewarding, with sights not seen elsewhere - like the massive schools of Glass Fish, lots of Anthias, sometimes a Turtle and a lovely Blue Spotted Ray like this one hiding under a Huge Table Coral.

After a hearty lunch of Bedouin fire cooked chicken, rice, salad, freshly cooked Bedouin Bread and Tea, and a good break to digest, you are ready then to do the second dive of the day. Again amazing coral and fishes to be seen with an untouched quality rarely witnessed elsewhere.

Some Bedouin families live here all year round now in the same simple tents and ways that they have had for thousands of years. There is also a chance to chat and buy bracelets and small gifts from these very talented and bright young children.

Just before Sunset, you start off back to home. The Camels now carrying slightly lighter gear (as you have now eaten the food and breathed the tank air) Finally you get back to Dive-Urge and a hot shower!

Not a day to be forgotten. Not a Day to be missed.
